Fungal Nail Care Balm | Natural Tea Tree & Shea Butter Formula
Description
A natural balm for nail care and protection, made for fungal-nail-prone toenails and fingernails. Handcrafted in the UK with botanicals long valued for nail comfort — tea tree, lavender, and rosemary — blended with shea butter and avocado oil to nourish brittle, thickened, and discoloured nails and the skin around them.
Why it works
A favourite among customers looking for a natural alternative to mainstream nail fungus creams. The all-natural formula blends tea tree, lavender, and rosemary essential oils — botanicals traditionally valued for their ability to look after nails that have turned thick, brittle, or discoloured — with deeply nourishing shea butter, coconut oil, and avocado oil to keep the surrounding skin and cuticles soft and comfortable.
Cold-pressed grapeseed and calendula oils carry the actives deep into the nail bed and surrounding cuticle, where mainstream creams often leave skin feeling stripped or dry. The balm sits comfortably under socks and shoes, absorbs without a greasy residue, and is built for the kind of consistent twice-daily use that nail care actually requires.
Since 2007, Sera Organics has been crafting plant-based, cruelty-free skincare from a small workshop in Essex. Doctor-developed and dermatologist-approved, this paraben-free, SLS-free balm is gentle enough for sensitive skin and made for daily use — by people navigating toenail fungus-prone changes, those rebuilding nails after gel or acrylic damage, swimmers, gym-goers, and anyone who wears closed shoes most of the day.
How to use
Apply a small amount directly to clean, dry nails and the surrounding cuticle area, morning and evening. Massage in gently until fully absorbed. For best results, file back any thickened nail surface first so the balm can reach the nail bed, and keep affected nails trimmed short.
Be patient — nails grow slowly. Most customers use the balm consistently for at least three months to see the changes that come with a full nail growth cycle. If nails are severely affected, painful, or not improving, speak to your GP, pharmacist, or podiatrist.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long before I see a difference?
Nails grow slowly — toenails take around 12 to 18 months to fully replace themselves, fingernails around 6 months. Most customers use the balm consistently for at least three months before they start to see clearer, healthier-looking nail growth coming through at the base. The skin around the nail and the cuticle tend to look and feel better much sooner, often within a week or two. Consistency is everything here: twice daily, every day, on clean dry nails. If you stop and start, the cycle resets.
How is this different from a pharmacy antifungal nail treatment?
Pharmacy nail products take a clinical, single-active approach — they're designed to deliver one synthetic compound to the nail and they have their place. But many customers find them harsh on the surrounding skin and the cuticle, and the lacquer-style products can leave nails feeling stripped or dry. Our balm comes at it from a completely different angle. It uses a blend of botanical oils traditionally valued for nail comfort — tea tree, lavender, rosemary — alongside deeply nourishing butters and carrier oils that look after the cuticle and skin at the same time. Plenty of our customers use it alongside or after pharmacy products to bring the nails and surrounding skin back to comfort.
Is this safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — the balm is built around gentle, plant-based ingredients chosen because they soothe rather than aggravate. It's paraben-free, SLS-free, and free from synthetic fragrance (the scent comes naturally from the essential oils). That said, the formula contains a number of essential oils including tea tree and rosemary, which can be reactive on very sensitive skin. We always recommend a patch test on the inner forearm for 24 hours before first use, and discontinuing if any redness or stinging develops.
Could it be something other than nail fungus?
Not every thickened, discoloured, or brittle nail is a fungal issue. Trauma to the nail (a stubbed toe, a heavy object dropped on it, repeated friction from tight shoes), nail psoriasis, lichen planus, and damage from acrylic or gel removal can all look very similar. If nails have been changing for a long time, are painful, are lifting away from the nail bed, or are spreading to other nails, it's worth getting a GP, pharmacist, or podiatrist to take a look — sometimes a nail clipping test is the only way to know for sure.
Can I use this on my fingernails and toenails?
Yes — both. Toenails are the more common use case because closed shoes and warm, damp environments are exactly the conditions that fungal-prone nails struggle with. But the balm works just as well on fingernails, particularly after gel or acrylic removal when nails come away thin, peeling, or brittle. Apply to the nail surface, the cuticle, and the skin around the nail.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The formula is plant-based, but it contains tea tree, rosemary, and several other essential oils that aren't universally recommended in pregnancy without professional guidance. We'd suggest checking with your GP, midwife, or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. For general nail and cuticle nourishment during this window, our Tamanu Hemp Balm is a gentler alternative.
