Arnica & Hemp Balm | Natural Muscle & Joint Comfort Rub
Description
A natural arnica and hemp balm for tired, hard-worked muscles and joints. Handcrafted in the UK with botanicals long valued for soothing comfort — arnica, hemp seed oil, peppermint, and frankincense — blended with shea butter and avocado oil into a clean, non-greasy rub for the back, shoulders, knees and hands.
Why it works
A favourite among customers looking for a natural balm built around arnica — one of the most recognised botanicals in traditional skincare, long associated with the comfort of hard-worked muscles and joints. Here it's paired with cold-pressed hemp seed oil and a refreshing note of peppermint, all carried in a rich base of shea butter, avocado oil and beeswax.
Known as "The Green Rub", this is a balm built for daily use. It absorbs cleanly without a greasy residue, massages in easily, and works just as well as a pre-activity warm-up rub as it does an end-of-day comfort balm. The earthy herbal scent comes naturally from the botanicals — there's no synthetic fragrance.
Since 2007, Sera Organics has been crafting plant-based, cruelty-free skincare from a small workshop in Essex. Doctor-developed and dermatologist-approved, this paraben-free balm is gentle enough for sensitive skin and made for daily use — by people who work on their feet, train, garden, or simply want a natural balm to reach for after a long day.
How to use
Massage a small amount into clean, dry skin across the back, shoulders, knees, hands, or any area that feels tired or worked. Allow it to absorb fully. Reapply through the day as needed.
For best results, use morning and evening, and consistently — a little goes a long way, so a thin layer is usually plenty. Many customers also use it as a warming massage rub before activity, and again afterwards to help skin feel soothed and comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is arnica and why is it used in skincare?
Arnica (Arnica montana) is a mountain flower that has been used in traditional skincare for centuries. It's one of the most widely recognised botanicals for comforting hard-worked muscles and joints, and it remains a firm favourite in natural balms today. In this balm, arnica is combined with hemp seed oil and a rich base of nourishing butters and oils, so the skin feels cared for as well as comforted.
How is this different from your other muscle and joint balms?
Sera Organics makes a small family of balms for hard-worked muscles and joints. This Arnica & Hemp Balm is the arnica-led option — built around that classic mountain-flower botanical. Our Comfrey & Hemp Cream leans on comfrey, another traditional favourite. Our Capsicum, Ginger & Hemp Balm adds warming botanicals for a deeper heat sensation, and our Hemp Balm is the hemp-led everyday all-rounder. They work beautifully alongside each other — many customers keep more than one and reach for whichever suits the day.
Can I use this as a massage balm?
Yes — it's a favourite for exactly that. The balm has enough slip to work as a massage medium yet absorbs cleanly without leaving skin greasy. Use it for a warming pre-activity rub on the legs, shoulders, or back, or as a relaxing massage balm at the end of the day. The refreshing note from the peppermint makes it particularly pleasant on tired areas after exercise or a long day on your feet.
Is this safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — the balm is built around gentle, plant-based ingredients chosen because they soothe rather than aggravate, and it's paraben-free and free from synthetic fragrance. That said, it does contain peppermint, tea tree, rosemary and frankincense essential oils, which can be reactive on very sensitive skin. We always recommend a patch test on the inner forearm for 24 hours before first use, and keeping the balm away from broken skin and the eye area.
Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
This balm contains arnica, rosemary and several other essential oils that aren't universally recommended during pregnancy without professional guidance. We'd suggest checking with your GP, midwife or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. For general skin nourishment during this window, our Tamanu Hemp Balm is a gentler alternative.
How long does a 30g tin last?
Used once or twice daily on a typical area like the back, shoulders or knees, a 30g tin lasts most customers around four to six weeks. Because a thin layer is all that's needed, it goes further than people expect. The aluminium tin is recyclable, and the balm has a 12-month shelf life once opened.
